An identity is the distinguishing characteristics that marks one out of his/her kind. The fact remains that every one of us have an identity whether genuine or counterfeit.

What then is true identity?.

An identity is what gives one access to one’s right. In fact, in the academic sector, students will be barred from the entrance into the examination hall without his/her identity card.

In the judicial sector, a criminal has the right to resist an arrest by a law enforcer who is without his/her identity card. Even the President of a country is due to be treated like a commoner in a strange like if he/her fails to provide his/her identity.

Thus, there are many identities!. So it is in the kingdom: we don’t fall sick because, He was wounded for our transgression, bruised for our iniquities and the chastisement of our peace is upon Him, by whose stripes I am healed (Isa. 53:5); we don’t fail in our examination because Christ has been made wisdom for us and we have more understanding than all our teacher for his testimonies are our meditation (1 Cor. 1:30, Psa. 119: 99); we don’t lack anything because we have a father who provides for our needs according to his riches in glory (Phil. 4:19); when we pray, He answers because, he has promised to even give us the heathen as our inheritance (Psa. 2:8) and many more… But all these are identities not the true identity!. Hallelujah!, what is now true identity?. The true mark is the mark which we bear as a result our commitment to kingdom’s business, it is the mark which the seeker of the kingdom bears. In Ezekiel 9, in a vision, the prophet saw six men carrying deadly weapons and a man in white linen carrying an ink. And the lord commanded the man with the ink by his side to go throughout the city of Jerusalem and put a mark on the forehead of those who grieve and lament over the distasteful things that are done in the city their while commanding the other six men to go after the man with the ink and kill young and old beginning from the lord’s sanctuary of any man who did not receive the mark (Eze. 9: 1-6).

If we are cognizance of verse 4, we will notice that the mark was to be carried by people who grieve and laments the city (people like prophet Jeremiah and Isaiah¬† who can’t keep away their mouth from sharing the words, people whose tongue has been touched by the almighty). Apostle paul, a passionate gospel preacher concluded in his epistle to the Galatians by saying “from henceforth, I carry the mark of the Lord let no one trouble me”, meaning those who preach the good tidings carries the true mark from head to toe. No wonder the bible says

“How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring good news, who proclaim peace, who bring good tidings, who proclaim salvation, who say to Zion, “Your God reigns!”.

Do you want to carry the true mark too?…

Let’s keep reaching out to people around us with the good news!. May the Lord empower us to do His will.
